Request an email consultation
You are now able to e-mail our doctors and nurses through our secure “e-GP” service. Using this service you can e-mail the practice to ask a doctor or nurse a non-urgent question/request.
Examples of email enquiries are:
• A question about medication e.g. dosing or side effects
• A particular symptom that you don’t feel is urgent or significant;
• A question about tests or results
• A question about a long standing illness e.g. diabetes, that isn’t urgent.
Unsuitable topics include:
• Urgent medical enquiries- you must call 111 or the surgery in this instance.
• New symptoms that may be dangerous e.g. chest pain, shortness of breath, new weakness in a limb etc- call 999 or 111.
• Symptoms that will probably require an examination.
We will try to respond to all queries within 24 hours, although sometimes a little more time is needed to investigate your query. Emails received after 5pm on a Friday will be dealt with on the following Monday (Tuesday if Monday is a Bank Holiday).
We cannot guarantee that your named doctor/nurse will be responding but the doctor/nurse who receives your enquiry will record your e-mail in the medical notes and communicate with your named doctor/nurse where possible.
Please note that this service is NOT for urgent medical enquiries, please phone the surgery instead.
It is very important that you provide the correct e-mail address for us to respond to. You will be sent a link via secure email through which you can then access the doctor/nurses’ response.
Please give as much detail as possible to help the clinician answer your query. We are unable to hold e-mail “conversations” and any further emails will need to be re-entered as a new consultation.
All messages sent via this system are automatically saved to your patient record. Please ensure that you only provide information you are happy to be saved in this way.
When you send us messages, the first person to read them is one of the administration staff. If there is anything you do not want the administration staff to see, please do not put it on the message.
